Our story

The cafe exists before the door does

London's Broomstick is a virtual apothecary cafe, built to feel like the storefront we are working towards. Glass jars along the wall, far too many plants, and somebody behind the counter who actually wants to talk about tea.

Every tin is blended, weighed and packed by hand, and every one ships with a brewing card so you can make it the way it is meant to taste. Tea came first. Pastries, tinctures and other holistic remedies are on their way, and the pet menu started as a joke about my own dog and stayed because you kept ordering it.

Four steps to a better cup

You do not need a ceremony or a shelf of equipment. You need the right water, a rough measure and a timer, and the rest takes care of itself.

01

Mind the water

Boiling for roots, berries and barks, a couple of minutes off the boil for delicate flowers. Temperature is the difference between a sweet cup and a bitter one.

02

Measure by hand

One rounded teaspoon per cup, plus one for the pot. Herbal blends take up more room, so be generous with those.

03

Set a timer

Five to ten minutes for most blends, longer for roots and mushrooms. A blend does not get stronger past its window, only bitter.

04

Cover the cup

Keep a lid on while it steeps so the vital plant essences stay in the water instead of drifting off with the steam.

Coming Soon

Scones, shortbread and whatever else the season suggests, made to sit beside a specific blend rather than as an afterthought.

The apothecary side

Tinctures and
Remedies

Holistic remedies and tinctures are in the works, arriving once every last label and ingredient is exactly right.

The community table

A cafe is a room where people talk

The tea is only half of it. A forum is being built so the questions that arrive by email can be answered where everybody can read them, and so you can show each other how you brew at home.

Ask anything about tea Water, timings, blending, storage, or what to drink when nothing sounds right. No question is too basic for the table.
Show how you brew it Post your setup, your mug, your ratio. Half the good ideas on this menu came from somebody else's kitchen.
Free to join, always The community side stays open to everyone. Perks and member discounts may come later, but the door itself will not have a price on it.
First look at new blends Members hear about seasonal blends, pastry test bakes and pet menu additions before anything goes on the shop shelf.
